Domain Analysis and Modeling
Domain analysis is the process of identifying, collecting, organizing and representing the relevant information in a domain based on the study of existing system and the development history, knowledge captured from domain experts, underlying theory and emerging technology within a domain. For instance, HL7 is an ANSI standard for healthcare specific data exchange between computer applications.
The name comes from "Health Level 7", which refers to the top layer (Level 7) of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) layer protocol for the health environment. Graph-based techniques are computationally expensive especially when graph models are large and work on approximation. This has constrained extensive implementation of graph-based techniques into ontology engineering and development. However, the advantages of specific graph techniques such as graph matching can be exploited to serve distinct requirements of ontology engineering. The proposed domain analysis method is based on matching ontology commitments from various site implementations. This can be realized by matching RDF graph representations of only ontology commitments and not the entire ontology. This reduces the total search space and improves computational performance.
Semantic Digital Library
Semantic Digital Library is a solution to maintain all the details of the print library and digital content. It provides semantic search which enables the finding relevant data needed by the user. Moreover, the semantic annotation and social book-marking helps to discover information in a collaborative way. Integrating the existing B-LIS with open source semantic Digital Library gives new solution to knowledge Warehouse. Entire knowledge resources of these libraries will be placed on Grid over the web for inter-institutional knowledge sharing. Meaning based search rather than text search helps better information discovery. Semantic Digital library is far more cost effective than conventional print library for maintenance and knowledge archiving.
